The new Post Office® Travel Money
Card is the secure, convenient way to
carry foreign currency. Just load your
card with the amount you need and
you can then use it at millions of
outlets displaying the Visa Electron
sign and cash machines worldwide,
wherever the Visa symbol is displayed.
Extra peace of mind
Unlike debit or credit cards, you can
only spend what you have loaded onto
the card, which means there’ll be no
unwelcome bank statements or bills
when you get home. Also, if your card
is ever lost or stolen, we can give you a
new card and refund the balance.
The card isn't linked to your bank
account, so that remains completely
safe too.
Choose your card to carry
euros, Dollars or Sterling
You can purchase a card in euros, US
Dollars or Sterling. You can have one of
each if you're travelling in different
countries. Simply load your card with your
chosen currency at a Post Office® branch
or over the phone and you’ll be ready to
take it away and spend as you please.
Get holiday cash and
pay for things
You can withdraw up to £500 a day (or
equivalent amount in US Dollars or
euros) from cash machines displaying
the Visa sign. And you can use your card
to pay for goods and services at over 13
million outlets worldwide, wherever you
see the Visa Electron sign**. If the local
currency is the same as the currency on
your card, you won't pay any charges
when using the card to pay for things in
shops and restaurants.
Check your balance
You can also check your balance when
at home or abroad with our telephone
balance checking service. We’ll also give
you a handy balance book to help you
keep track of your spending while
you're away.
Top up your card
After loading an initial amount of £250, you can top up your card with a minimum of £50, any time you like, by cash, cheque, debit or credit card. And you can do it with a quick phone call or clicking on our website from anywhere in the world. You can also top up in person at any participating Post Office® branch.
If your card is lost or stolen
Call our 24 hour helpline immediately
to stop your card and order a
replacement card, and providing you
have taken due care we will also
replace your balance. We can courier it
directly to your holiday destination
(delivery charges apply) or post it free
of charge to your home address.
How to get your Travel Money Card
There is a one-off fee of £10 when you buy a card. You can have up to three cards
(one in Sterling, one in US Dollars and one in euros). If you apply online for a Travel Money Card the card should be with you within 5 working days.
